2023 The year for new habits?
16/01/2023
As we welcome in the new year and consider what 2023 has in store, I often try to start the year like most others with setting myself some goals and resolutions, a new year, a new me? Who doesn’t want to be a happier, healthier version of themselves. Like most I fail miserably every year in achieving these to year end, so perhaps it’s time for a re think. Let’s make 2023 the year of keeping things simple, small changes in habit that can lay the foundation for long term change.
Habits take a long time to create but form faster when we do them more often. Try some easier to manage micro changes that will help keep your smile healthy for years to come:
- Start cleaning interdentally, its a small ask but often the one most patients find hardest to maintain/ Keep the floss or interdental brush somewhere visible next to your toothbrush and stick to it! It’ll help stave off gum disease and keep your breath fresh, win win!
- Change your toothbrush or electric head regularly- we know its easy to lose track of time but pop it on the calendar or set a reminder on your phone, a worn toothbrush doesn’t clean anything and can actually traumatise your gums, replace it every 3 months to keep your teeth bright and clean
- Kick the sugary snacks, they aren’t great for our waistband and they definitely aren’t good for our teeth, keep cavities at bay by limiting the sweet treats to main mealtimes and as with most things, in moderation!
A supportive environment can be key in helping achieve these habits, our team are here to help assist you. The feedback from your dentist or hygiene can help motivate you and help transition your new habit into a regular routine.
Now go get started!
